In this now famous picture, he was carried into nearby St. Paul's Chapel and laid upon the altar. (Only by divine intervention, was the Chapel spared. It is marked as "The Little Chapel that stood" while all else around was destroyed."  In humble honor and respect to his years of service to the NYFD, Father Mychal is listed as "Victim # 0001".
